Navigating Loss

We are here to walk beside you through early grief with compassion and care.

Nurse Support for Bereaved Families

Finding support after you have lost a pregnancy, newborn, or partner who gave birth can be tough. A Family Connects registered nurse can visit or call when you're ready, and can offer support for the whole family. If you live in Pierce County and recently lost a pregnancy, infant, or birthing parent (with delivery 12 weeks ago or less), click below to request a free visit or call.

The nurse can make sure you are recovering well, connect you to counseling or support groups, and answer questions you may have. This form uses encryption technology so your protected health information will be kept private.

We know this is an extremely personal and painful time.

You planned for a different outcome, and we know the physical and emotional rollercoaster this likely is for you and your family. By visiting you in the comfort and privacy of your home, or a location of your choosing, a Family Connects Pierce County nurse can lend you additional support during this difficult time.

Grief is expressed in many ways. Family Connects Pierce County cares about your health and well-being.

Family Connects Pierce County is ready to serve all parents experiencing the tragedy of a stillbirth, or loss of their newborn, including those who may not have carried the baby. We are also here to support those experiencing the loss of a partner and birthing parent.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve, but the first weeks after the birthing event can be the most overwhelming as you address your family’s unique needs.

  • Screening for postpartum health issues that could be otherwise overlooked

  • Linking you and your family to ongoing grief counseling and behavioral health resources

Supporting the well-being of every family – at no cost – with a voluntary nurse visit.
