Ali Folz, Nurse Supervisor
I received my bachelor's and master’s degree in nursing at University of Michigan by 1997, and I have worked as a nurse & nurse practitioner in numerous clinical settings. As nurse practitioner, I have been an Emergency room, Family Planning, and Adult Primary Care provider. As a nurse I have worked in the hospital, in home healthcare, and currently as a float RN in outpatient clinics in Pierce County. I love all aspects of nursing and truly enjoy the art of caring for patients in diverse settings. I have raised two daughters, and I am a lifelong mother. If my experience has taught me anything, it is that we can all use more care and connection in our individual worlds. I feel grateful to work with Family Connects, and I am committed to ensuring families have what they need to thrive in our community. Aside from Nursing, I am an avid animal lover and spend hours walking and hiking with our two dogs. I am a children’s book author, and an advocate for self-awareness and self-expression through art. I love all things spiritual and enjoy a regular yoga and meditation practice. And lastly, if I’m feeling patient, I enjoy puzzles and wrestling with yarn and a-pair-of-knitting needles.

Jessica Azcarraga, RN
I have worked with moms and babies at the bedside for 18 years in L&D and postpartum. I love educating, supporting and empowering moms. I am so excited to be able to have the opportunity through Family Connect to provide support to all families in our community. The first few weeks are some of the most challenging--I always say it takes a village. I am beyond excited in being a part of this amazing team. Outside of work, my husband Jorge and I have been together for 20 years and have 4 amazing children. We enjoy exploring the PNW, sports and traveling.

Jovi Kintner, RN
I did my practicum in the NICU and fell in love with the controlled chaos, low's of the lows, intensity, and the joys of milestones and graduations from the hospital. These kids are the strongest humans I've ever seen and it's fascinating to see them conquer all obstacles thrown their way and develop and grow in front of your eyes. I still love my job in the NICU!
Fast forward about 7 years and I started my own family and now I need less intensity in my life! I'm drawn to Step by Step and the Family Connects program because I feel this is an underserved part of healthcare and I want to be a part of the forefront and help lay groundwork for families to grow and thrive! Women's health (especially postpartum) and the wellbeing of children are very important to me and I feel grateful to be a part of this program. I'm excited to get started and to feel like I'm helping make a difference in the future of families. How special to be a part of someone's support team and help them where needed.
Aside from my career, I'm a wife and a mom! I've been married almost 12 years and we have two boys, Cooper and Calvin. We have a dog named Zoey who's one of the kindest dogs you'll ever meet. We enjoy hiking, baking and playing games as a family. I love to run, hike, read, travel, and stay home with my family.

June Everson, RN
I started my nursing journey as an LPN over 12 years ago and further obtained my Bachelors of Science in Nursing shortly after. Most recently I've taken advanced coursework in women's health and pediatrics as part of a Family Nurse Practitioner program. In addition to working with Family Connects, I work in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Tacoma area; I have been there for over 8 years and love working with the babies and families. One of my favorite things in the NICU is supporting mothers and helping them navigate those postpartum early days. When I heard about Family Connects, I instantly knew this was where I needed to be!
When I'm not working as a RN, you can find me in my cut flower garden. I started my garden as a way to unwind and destress during Covid, but quickly discovered what I loved most was putting a smile on someone's face and spreading a little love/kindness by sharing my bouquets. My husband and I have been together for 11 years, we have two children, and a German Shepherd who keep us very busy. We love everything outdoors and spend all of our free time together as a family.
Having a baby and navigating your postpartum health isn't easy. It truly takes a village and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.

Kaitlyn Anderson, RN, BSN
I have always been passionate about family. Becoming a nurse in the Family Birth Center 10 years ago was definitely the right career start for me. I enjoyed my time in the NICU, helping families learn how to navigate unexpected situations. This area of work confirmed for me that all families regardless of income or opportunity, need support. Every family is different and deserves an equal opportunity for growth, education, mental health, and resources.
Most of my earlier career until now has been in the hospital postpartum unit (women & newborn). Here, I was able to see so many perspectives and dynamics of families in such a vulnerable period of life. After having children of my own, my passion just continues to grow, especially in parenting. I am a firm believer that we are all just doing the absolute best we can with what we have. I am so grateful to be a part of the Family Connects team, where we can meet needs outside of the hospital, in people’s homes, where life happens.
Outside of work I am a wife & a mom of three (ages 5-10). We like to spend as much time together as possible, exploring, playing games, and getting creative. Personally, I enjoy reading, hiking, traveling literally anywhere, and meeting with other mom friends.

Karine Mish, RN
I started my nursing career 15 years ago in an adult Medical/Surgical unit and transitioned to Labor and Delivery 11 years ago and never looked back. I love supporting patients and their families through the birthing process and always felt like there was such a huge need for more postpartum support out of the hospital, that's where joining Family Connects came in. I feel so grateful to be able to help new and experienced parents in the community navigate their parenthood journey and all the joys and challenges that come with it.
Outside of work I enjoy reading, hot yoga, and spending time with friends and family, which include my husband and two small children.

I have been working as an RN in community and public health nursing with Pierce and King County for 30+ years. What I love the most is serving and advocating for moms, families and their babies. I like that Family Connects serves all people and all incomes and our goal is to listen, answer your questions, and get you connected to any resources that you may need or be interested in, in your community. My specialty is Breastfeeding as I am an IBCLC-Lactation Consultant, and most recently have worked with CSHCN-children with special health care needs.

Rosario Bautista, Community Alignment Specialist/Interpreter
I earned BA in Family and Consumer Science with a minor in Sociology from Central Washington University, and have experience working with children ages 1-18 years old in school settings as a substitute teacher, a visitation supervisor, and a Family Support Specialist. Coming from a Hispanic background, I understand the importance of having access to resources in one's own language and having someone that understands their needs. I grew up in the Tacoma area, and am very passionate about serving the community. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, and having a good cup of coffee!

Serena Robb, Nurse Supervisor
My passion for working with infants started way back in high school when we had guest speakers come in from a care center for infants born addicted to drugs. When I applied for college, I had an exact career path in mind, I wanted to be a Neonatal ICU nurse. I graduated in 2012 with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University and quickly accepted a job in the Neonatal ICU at the University of Washington Medical Center. I have learned in my career as a nurse, that all families need support when they have a baby, whether it's their first or their fourth baby. When I heard about Step by Step and learned about the Family Connects program, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
I grew up in a large family and I am the oldest of six siblings. My mom raised us by herself while working full time. She is truly my hero and a large part of why I am a nurse today. I met my husband in high school, we got married shortly after I graduated from college and now have two children, one dog and two cats. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my kids, families, and friends.

Teresa Snider, RN
I took an interest in women’s health after completing my senior practicum in the Family Birth Center. After graduating, I accepted a position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where I have been for the past 11 years. I love caring for my tiny patients and building relationships with their families. After having my own children, l felt I was able to better connect with new moms and help support them with their postpartum journeys. I am passionate about empowering families during this time and am excited to be a part of the Family Connects team.
Aside from nursing, I love spending time with my husband and our two beautiful children. I also enjoy attending sporting events, cooking, and reading a good book.

Tessa Wimmer, MSW
My social work background is in community case management and residential treatment settings. I also have an enthusiasm for that tender time of life when a new baby joins a family and changes so much! Meeting the unique needs of new mothers, babies, and the family members around them is so valuable and impactful. Finding a home at Step By Step in the Family Connects program feels like the perfect fit for me. I’m a Washington native and love living, working, and raising my family in this beautiful state. My husband and I have been married for over twenty years and have one son and four daughters who fill our lives to the brim with energy and joy.

Yen Steinhauer, Program Support Specialist
Around 12 years ago, when I initially moved to the US, the language and cultural divide had a significant impact on me. Starting over in a foreign nation is not an easy task. I wanted to work in a position that enabled me to assist families and individuals who are struggling, particularly due to linguistic and cultural obstacles, because I am aware of how they feel. As a result, I started out as a care coordinator for a low-income community, provided social service works before becoming an advocate at a domestic violence shelter for women and children. Since becoming a mother, my love for working with moms and babies has grown. It has made me feel better about helping since I started working as a community health worker for Family Connects programs and offering Postpartum Support Services. I'd love to meet you and your children to help provide all the necessary support and assistance in your parenthood journey.
Aside from work, I'm a wife and mother to a 7-year-old daughter named Mia. I enjoy furniture flipping, home improvement projects, camping, and reading.
